We are excited for this coming semester and the amazing classes put forward by our mentors!
Class Fees
iFamily Leadership Academy supports a free-market. Class fees are determined by each mentor and set accordingly. These fees are in addition to your registration fee, which covers our cost of operation. If you have questions about a specific class's fee, please contact that mentor directly.
Class Application
Class applications are conducted via email with the class mentor on Monday, August 5, 2024 beginning at 8am. No early applications will be accepted. All application information is found on the class description page available to full iFamily members. Mentors will respond to applications by Wednesday, August 7 at noon unless otherwise noted.
Age Designations
Our Phases of Learning are based on students' individual development and do not have direct age equivalents. We include an age range as a general guideline, but it is ultimately up to a parent and their student to decide which phase will bring them the most success. For more information, please go here.
Core Phase

Babywise Sitting
This will be part two of Babywise 101. The Practice/Apprentince Scholars will teach and create educated play for your little ones. Babies and little children up to age 6 are welcome and wanted to help our scholar youth practice the skills they are learning in the hour held just before this class. There will be tons of sensory play, reading, and crafts fun. The older youth will create a fun, loving, and safe environment for the little kiddos to thrive and grow in. The adult mentor will be present in class at all times.

Fun and Songs
Songs are a great way to express ourselves. They can lift our spirits or calm us down, help us memorize important information and be just plain silly. We will sing and play in this class. This is not intended to be a performance class.

Hundred Acre Wood
We will be reading House at Pooh Corner and other picture books, poetry and possibly an occasional song. We will have a snack that we will ask students to help with if it seems an appropriate time in the schedule. We will have coloring, a simple craft, and an activity or game for the more active portion of the class.

I Dig Dinosaurs
Dino crafts, stories and we’ll sneak in some learning too. We will learn about herbivores and carnivores and graph each dino we learn about to see which there are more of. We will measure each dino in unconventional ways, and plot on a floor sized world map where each was discovered. We will be making our own museum which will include dino eggs, “fossils” of each student’s handprint, “fossil” skeletons, be paleontologists for a day and dig up surprises and lots more fun!

Music and Munchkins
If your munchkin loves to sing or move to music then this is the class for him or her! We are going to be goofy and active while learning songs and about rhythm, notes, solfege, feelings, and interval ear training. It's going to be fun!

In this class we will go on adventure of wonder. We will be reading stories, doing crafts, singing songs and discovering nature. We will follow the rotation and philosophy of A Well-Educated Heart.

All About Energy
Energy is everywhere. Energy is the ability to do work or to make something change, move, or grow. I hope the students will get excited when they see how many types of energy that there are and how they are a part of our everyday lives. This science class will be based on The Good and the Beautiful's book "The Wonders of Energy".

Cook and Create
This simple, fun cooking and sewing class will build your confidence in the kitchen and at the sewing machine. Whether your exposure is currently minimal or extensive, you’ll love creating with friends and mastering your skills. The sewing section and cooking section will be 6 classes each. Over the course of the semester, learn to sew 3 projects and make 6 recipes that you will take home to bake.

Come and learn from our very own IFamily dads! Each week we will have one of the dads here at Ifamily come in and teach the kids. There will be some hands on and some life application lessons.

Happy Habits
Happy habits grow happy kids! There are seven habits that can help any of us be happier, able to accomplish more of what we want in life, and have better friendships. We will be learning about these seven habits together and finding ways we can apply them in our own lives. Come learn with us through story, craft, discussion, and games. (This class is based on "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids" by Sean Covey).

It's All Greek to Me!
Come join us on our exciting journey into the world of Ancient Greece! In this class we will explore the fascinating culture, mythology, and wisdom of the Greeks. We'll delve into Greek mythology, learn about the mighty Zeus and the stories of Mount Olympus while coloring, and learn to write and recite some different kinds of poetry. By the end of our semester, we aim to think, question, and speak like the great philosophers and scientists of Ancient Greece.

Itchin' to be Stitchin'
Itchin’ to be Stitchin’ is a hand sewing class. This semester we will be learning how to Cross Stitch. Cross stitch is a form of sewing in which x-shaped stitches in a tiled pattern are used to create a picture. We will begin by practicing the skill of cross stitching. Then we will make a simple sampler on gingham fabric. We will finish the semester with a sampler completed on Aida cloth.

Knights in Training
Knights in training is for boys ages 7-9. Does your child like adventure? Sword fights? Then this class is for you. In this class we will learn about the Knight’s Code of Chivalry, which are principles and values true knights must live by. We will be reading books, doing projects, and playing games that focus on knights, medieval times, and character development. There will also be a focus on friendshipping, teamwork, and fun of course!
Each week there will be an optional challenge to be done outside of class.
The boys will begin the class as a squire, and end it by being dubbed a knight.

Learning Adventures for Boys

Come join us on a weekly learning adventure. Each boy will have a week where they get to be in charge! They will plan and bring everything for a presentation to show to the class, an activity for the class to do together, a snack to share, and a favorite story/book. We'll get to know each other better as we learn what each boy loves to learn about.

Babywise Class 101

Do you want to learn how to become a baby whisperer? Or maybe create a backpack full of tools and tricks on how to be the best babysitter ever? Would you like to practice what you learn and use your new skills right after you learn them? Then this class is for you!! We will spend the 1st hour learning and creating tools and skills that will help us be the best babysitters ever. Then the 2nd hour we will use those skills and tools on creating a love of learning environment for little children. Come and join the adventure of not just becoming a better babysitter but a better and more confident you!!

Who is your hero? We all have someone we consider a hero. A sports star might have the greatest batting average, the most dunks, or be able to save anything. A music idol might have the most hit singles, the best music videos, or just be gorgeous. Each of these people may be a hero, but it’s not their athletic prowess, dancing stems, or good looks that make them so. Joseph Campbell said that, “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”
Drawing Fundamentals Part 1

In "Drawing Fundamentals" we will be studying six of the seven elements of art: line, shape, space, value, form, and texture. These elements are the building blocks, or ingredients, of art. We will not be covering the art element of color in this class. We will be learning from Bruce McIntyre's "Drawing Textbook". There are 37 lessons, and we will complete lessons 1 through 19.

How to think like an Inventor

THIS IS A 2 SEMESTER CLASS Do your loyalties lie with the North or the South? Will you stand by and watch while your country is torn apart, or will you stand up and fight for a cause you believe in? Join us in experiencing a “new birth of freedom” as we study the events surrounding the American Civil War and the lives of men and women who changed the world. In this first of TWO SEMESTERS of study, students will deep-dive into the issues plaguing the not-so-United States as we discuss difficult issues such as states’ rights vs. federal control, the constitutionality of cessation, and slavery.

iShakespeare is a great scholar starter kit for youth! Over the course of the year, we will practice all 5 scholar skills (Reading, Writing, Thinking, Speaking, & Computing) and give youth an opportunity to begin finding their voice and discovering the greatness that lies within them. Our culminating activity at the end of Spring Semester will be performing a Shakespeare Play!

Engineering 101 (or why math is relevant)
If you’ve ever asked yourself “when will I use this math in the real world?” and really wanted to know, then this is the class for you! In Engineering 101 you will learn how to use math to solve real problems such as the design of electrical circuits, design of piping systems, design of simple structures, and calculation of heat transfer through a material. You will also learn how to document your results in a professional, technical manner using commonly available software or apps.

The Edison Project provides inspiration for students to design and complete their own project they are passionate about and give students the vision, skills, and abilities to develop it. The class provides discussion of great ideas, problem solving for roadblocks, and opportunities for the student giving them a chance to discover their mission and where they can have impact for good through class time and retreats. The project opportunities are endless. They can learn a new skill, improve on a familiar one, or work to accomplish something that will move them forward in their life goals.

ACTivate Stage Right
ACTivate is a theater class for scholars. We are passionate about nurturing growth in young people and helping them find their purpose through the theater arts! Theater helps develop so many important skills, including vocabulary, verbal and non-verbal communication, better understanding of history, and empathy. This semester Stage Right will work on scenes, monologues and short plays to perform in early December. We will audition for our full-length play in early January and begin outside of class rehearsals in February. Play performances will be in mid-April.

ACTivate: Stage Left
ACTivate is a theater class for scholars. We are passionate about nurturing growth in young people and helping them find their purpose through the theater arts! Theater helps develop many important skills, including vocabulary, verbal and non-verbal communication, empathy, and better understanding of history. Students learn leadership through public speaking, teamwork, and seeing a task through to its conclusion (producing a play)! Initially we'll focus on building community and theater skills. Stage Left will audition in early October and perform in late January/early February.

Sound Bytes
Singing choral music is such a joyful experience!!! Sound Bytes is an audition choir of 12-16 members. To be in Sound Bytes you must be in the New Horizons choir. Sound Bytes will rehearse for 75-90 minutes once during the week - the day will be determined by the group. We will perform at a dinner concert in November, as well as Showcase.
