Core

Class Fees

iFamily Leadership Academy supports a free-market. Class fees are determined by each mentor and set accordingly. These fees are in addition to your registration fee, which covers our cost of operation. If you have questions about a specific class's fee, please contact that mentor directly.

Class Application

Class applications are conducted via email with the class mentor on Monday, December 18, 2023 beginning at 8am. No early applications will be accepted. All application information is found on the class description page available to full iFamily members. Mentors will respond to applications by Wednesday, December 20 at noon unless otherwise noted.

Age Designations

Our Phases of Learning are based on students' individual development and do not have direct age equivalents. We include an age range as a general guideline, but it is ultimately up to a parent and their student to decide which phase will bring them the most success. For more information, please go here.

Core Phase

Amazing Animals

God's creatures are amazing! Learn about some of these animals and their unique abilities that allow them to survive in their environment. Each week, we will learn about a different animal, have a hands on experience, make a craft, and read a story.

Does your child love to listen to stories? Do they love to craft? Then this is class for him or her! Simple, but lovable, stories followed by fun crafts to get our creative gears going!

Emotion Detectives

Happy. Sad. Mad. Calm. All feelings and emotions have something important to tell us. Why do we have them, and what can we learn from them? Well, come with me, fellow detectives, on a journey to discover the mysteries of our emotions and feelings and the importance of each one. We will discover new emotions and healthy ways to express them with the inspiration of the books A Little Spot of Emotion and A Little Spot of Feelings by Diane Alber. We will work on building our emotional intelligence through class discussions, stories/books, music/movement, crafts, and/or activities.

Five Senses

I see the white snowflakes floating down from the sky. I smell the sweet, piney smell of the trees around me. I feel the coolness of the icicle in my hand, then it stings. I taste the sweet hot chocolate. Then I listen and I hear.....nothing. Everything is so still. We have 5 senses to help us learn about the world around us. Through stories and hands-on activities, we will explore our amazing senses.

Author Academy

Let’s unleash our inner Authors. What is your story? Does it occur deep in the jungle, as an explorer discovering new creatures? Is it in the depths of Atlantis as you and your fellow mermaids fight to stay hidden from the human world? Or maybe, just maybe, could it be in a whole new world, yet to be discovered, hidden inside your imagination? Only you will know. Join me on an adventure to find your story. At the end of the semester, we will have discovered where our adventures take us and also have a printed book of our masterpieces. Let’s find an adventure and find your inner Author.

Boys and Books

Boys and Books is for boys who like friendship, projects, games, teamwork, food, and of course, books.
Each week there will be an assigned reading to be done before class. In class we will dive into the reading using various hands-on activities, and discussions.
This semester students will have the option to present a book report about a favorite book they want to recommend. I will provide incentives to motivate them.
I will also host at least one party outside of class with the intention of facilitating more connections between the boys.

Full STEAM Ahead

Do you love building things? Do you love a challenge? Then this class is for you! Each week you will have to use creativity, skills, and teamwork to meet the daily engineering challenge. Using everyday household materials, we will construct towers, bridges, and other structures.

Girls and Glitter

Did you know that arts and crafts can: Boost creativity, Reduce stress, Teach patience and focus, Increase self-confidence, Foster connections and Create more beauty in the world?
In Girls and Glitter we will participate in a variety of arts and crafts projects. There will be sewing, card making, cookie decorating, nature art, and many other fun projects.
The girls will also have the opportunity to lead a devotional at the beginning of class. They can share a poem, song, picture, or anything else that is uplifting and beautiful.

Itchin' to be Stitchin'

Itchin’ to be Stitchin’ is a hand sewing class. This semester we will be learning how to embroider. Embroidery is the handicraft of decorating fabric by stitching with needle and thread. We will begin by learn how to make 30 different stitches. Following that, we will make a flower basket sampler that can be framed.

LEGO and Landmarks

In LEGO and Landmarks we will learn about world famous landmarks around the world. Students will then be challenged to build their own version of the landmark. This is a history, geography, and LEGO class all in one!

Rock Stars

Is your child interested in learning about what makes the Earth tick? We will be learning about rocks, natural disasters, crystals and gems, and landforms.

Tuttle Twin Time

Come on a journey with me through the 13 illustrated Tuttle Twin books which teach about true history, sound money, personal freedom and responsibility, entrepreneurship, individual rights, and more—big people ideas that even little people can understand when presented in the simple way that these books do.

Whatever After

This class will be based on the books, Whatever After by Sarah Mlynowski. Whatever After is a NY Times Bestseller! Abby and Jonah have a magic mirror that leads into various fairy tales. They accidentally mess up the story and have to try to fix the problem in funny and boisterous fun!

This LEMI practice scholar class inspires students to reconnect to the earth and "live off the land". Think of Georgics as “civilization builders.” It teaches the basic and essential skills and principles that a healthy civilization is built upon: Stewardship, Entrepreneurialism, Faith, Forgiveness, Self-reliance, and Community interdependence. A strong emphasis is placed on the power of spiritually creating (also know as planning) something before physically creating it, and the students plan a Georgic project which can be anything from planning and growing a garden to raising bees or poultry.

This class will be a medium paced exploration and examination of who you currently are, who you hope to become and navigating the steps between. Well-rounded YOU*th will be a healthy balance of fun and learning, each class will bring something new! Life is all about change and this class will give you the tools to do it properly.

Shakespeare Conquest, the first LEMI scholar project, is basically a scholar starter kit for youth! First semester we practiced all 5 scholar skills (Reading, Writing, Thinking, Speaking, and Computing) and your youth began finding their voice and discovering the greatness that lies within them. This semester we have a new challenge as we work on our culminating activity, performing a Shakespeare Play!
"Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them!" (Twelfth Night).

2CYIM

Are you an INTP? What about a Type 8? Do you know what your spiritual gifts are? In 2CYIM, we will explore Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types as well as connect the dots in our own lives. By the end of this class, you will have the opportunity to understand more of what your personal mission is and how you are uniquely created to fulfill it. But beware! Only take this class if you are ready, “to see why I am.”

Constitution Deep Dive

Did you take Key of Liberty several years ago, but don't really remember much of what you learned? Or maybe you just want to better understand how our government is supposed to work? Come join us and discover (or rediscover) the principles upon which our country was founded, how our government is structured and WHY it is structured that way. Learn why it is important for each one of us to protect and defend the US Constitution. This class is American Civics as you've never experienced it before!

Worldviews and YOU!

A worldview is the foundation for how we think and act about theology, philosophy, ethics, biology, psychology, sociology, law, politics, economics, and history. Join us for an in-depth study of seven different worldviews: Secularism, Marxism, New Age Spirituality, Postmodernism, Islam, Biblical Christianity, and YOURS! Through reading, discussions, simulations, and essays, we will help each student discover what their own worldview is based on their Core Book(s) in each of those ten areas as well as understand the six main worldviews’ perspectives.

ACTivate Stage Left

ACTivate is our theater class for scholars. We are passionate about nurturing growth in young people and helping them find their purpose through the theater arts! Theater helps develop so many important skills, including vocabulary, better understanding of history, communication, wrestling with language and memorization. Our big play, "A Long Way from Home" will be performed February 13-17. After that, we'll focus on devising our own work for an end of year celebration in early May.

ACTivate Stage Right

ACTivate is our theater class for scholars. We are passionate about nurturing growth in young people and helping them find their purpose through the theater arts! Theater helps develop so many important skills, including vocabulary, better understanding of history, communication, wrestling with language and memorization. Students learn leadership through public speaking, teamwork, and seeing a task through to its conclusion (producing a play)! We'll learn by doing, and through mentor, self- and peer evaluation. Stage Right will perform their full length play the 2nd or 3rd week of April.

Drawing Fundamentals

In "Art Fundamentals" we will be studying six of the seven elements of art: line, shape, space, value, form, and texture. These elements are the building blocks, or ingredients, of art. We will not be covering the element of color in this class.

Come make jewelry with me this semester! We will make lots of different jewelry (bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings) with lots of different materials and techniques (wire, elastic cord, leather, embroidery floss, beads, stones, paper, wood, flowers/leaves…) You will almost always leave with a finished project (or two or more) every week!

Joyful Noise

Joyful Noise is for those who would love to learn to sing choral music. This class is all about singing and that is all we do. Choral music is such a fun expression of sound and truly blesses our soul.

Sew Basic

This is a beginning sewing class. It starts out with learning about basic supplies and sewing safety. Once the students learn the parts of the sewing machine and how to use it, then they will have the opportunity to make a book mark, bean bags, draw string bag, and a pillow case among other fun projects.

iFamily prioritizes its youth development while also recognizing that continuing adult education is essential to Leadership Education.

Beyond Point and Shoot

In this class, we will be breaking out of the little green box on your camera settings. We will learn how to control lighting and blur in our images, and better understand how to get the images you want. We will work on posing individuals and families and how to create more engaging and dynamic photos.

Worldviews for Moms

Worldviews for moms? YES!!! Many mamas have asked me to share my youth class with them, so voila, here is your chance! Worldviews are the foundation for how we see and understand the world. They guide our actions and fuel our purpose. Examining our own worldview and the prominent worldviews present in our world today helps us understand ourselves and others at a deeper level. This process greatly increases our ability to impact the world for good.

This is a scaled down class from the youth version, but will still challenge you to work hard and learn much!
